HUNDREDS of Pretoria high school children cheering on classmates at an inter-schools athletics competition watched in horror as a gang of four gunned down a teenager as he played with his infant daughter.

Abdul Abrahams, 19, was shot dead as he sat in the grandstand at Eersterus Sports Stadium with his girlfriend, Meloniece Moses, and seven-month-old daughter, Nishair, moments before the start of the 100m sprint yesterday.

Abrahams’s brother, Igsaan, died in a similar shooting in 2008.

After yesterday’s shooting, four men were caught as they tried to get away in a bakkie on Stormvoël Road.

It was the second time in five days that Abrahams, who was studying at Unisa, had been attacked. On Thursday, shots were fired at him as he drove home following an altercation near his house. Police believe the same men were involved in both shootings.
